After the team’s recent problems with their Ducati 1000SS race bike at Cadwell Park, coupled with a lack of power that means the team may struggle to remain competitive in the UK’s Hottrax National Endurance Championship ProSuperbike class, Kapital Moto Racing has decided to strike out in a new direction. ![]() Â
Following two successful tests days on the donor bike, the team are busy building the 996ES (Endurance Special), featuring a high-compression, race-engineered 996 engine, large capacity exhaust system, Ducati Corse oil breather system, along with various weight saving parts. This new race bike will provide the team with an extra 30% in peak power delivery, while maintaining the lightweight goals of the team’s original Ducati 1000SS project.Speaking about the decision to change bikes mid-season, co-team principle and rider Phill Clarke says “We proved a point with our success earlier in the season on the 1000SS, but ultimately we weren’t able to remain on the pace in our class on this bike. As Ducati runs through the heart of our team it was important to stay with the marque, so the Ducati 996, with its World Superbike-winning heritage, was the perfect next step for the team. We’re really excited by our prospects for the remainder of the season, and pleased we can continue to put a Ducati on the Hottrax National Endurance grid.†Kapital Moto Racing plans to test the new race bike, engine and setup configuration at the UK’s Snetterton circuit on July 27th, following which the Q Build, Digit, and TVT-sponsored team will unveil their new bike prior to racing at Pembrey circuit on August 1st and 2nd.
